Google Docs Compatible with Office 2010

Just a few hours ago, at 9 o’clock this morning, Google announce via their official Google Docs Blog that Google Docs now supports .docx and .xlsx file formats.

This is great news for all Office 2007 users but also a wonderful addition to all of you who are planning to start using Office 2010 as it will be 100% compatible with the current .docx and .xlsx formats.

Anil Sabharwal, the Product Manager for Google Apps teaches: [...]

To import a .docx or .xlsx file, simply click the “Upload” button in your Docs List menu, select your file, and voila! We’ll upload and convert your document for use in Google Docs. This is a another great benefit of Google Docs – you don’t have to worry about what format the file is in. Just upload it and we’ll figure it out for you.

That’s very nice indeed. Google Docs will probably at least double the amount of users they currently have. Compatibility with Office is a major thing.

I don’t use Google Docs, but I’ll certainly take a look at the Office 2010 Web Apps!
